Filipinos are historically garbage at sports, therefore they all bought up Pacquiao's fights because he wasn't garbage.

same case with Jonesjr,in his heyday he used to go to the extreme to promote a fight.. claiming he was one of the best ever..once even bringing guns to the press conference..yet the ppv sales were low
Pacquaio on the other hand never brags or rants yet he is one of the biggest ppv hits of all time
Why is that?

Jones and Hopkins although good at what they do, they really wasnt casual fans pleasers, neither was Mayweather but the difference he had Oscar to Leech of in a way, He had that huge exposure to boxing #1 fans and he had the chance to make them love him or hate him. Mayweather chose to make them hate him and they been paying to see him lose ever since, Bhops, jones not so much.

Jones had two things against him.
1. Self promoted.
2. Jones turned pro in 89 and Oscar DLH turned pro in 92. By the time Oscar hit, all the focus was on him. DLH was the ppv king.
Hopkins was fighting guys from the bum of the month club. I think the Echols fights were on ESPN. Hard to remember.
People forget but even when Oscar was around it was all about DLH. Dela trail blazed the focus on the smaller divisions.
One could sum this answer up in one word, Oscar.
