Poor Ken Buchannan was relieved of his world title when Roberto Duran stopped him with a perfectly aimed punch to the groin back in 1972.

Ken still feels pain when he urinates to this day!!

Since I can't possibly compete with Joe Gans' eyeball, I'll just throw out Odlanier Solis as a recent example. The guy got his biggest fight and then collapsed like a shot rhino in the 1st round.

Kermit cintron propelled himelf through the ropes after tripping over pwill and received a compound fracture to his vagina....

Cintron also performed the most amazing persuasion job ever in the ring when he talked himself out of a knockout with the ref who already declared him ko'd

                More about Gans eye

"Frank Erne, who was also considered to be among the best fighters of any weight class at that time. They met on March 23, 1900 in New York. One modern writer mistakenly said Gans was “winning easily when he suffered a cut over his eye and abruptly quit” and “it buttressed the claims of those who said the fix was in.” Not so. According to researcher Arne Steinberg Gans eye was actually protruding from his eye socket! A vicious head butt had left Gans eye hanging on his face. The Chicago Times-Herald, Mar 24, reported “Baltimore man's eye dislodged from its socket by a head on collision.” The San Francisco Chronicle Mar 24, 1900, confirmed that, “Gans eye was started from its socket.” This was also reported by the Boston Globe. With such a horrendous injury Gans had no choice but to quit as one blow to his eye in that exposed position would have left him permanently blind."

it was acctually julian jackson who did the damage to mcclellan in their first fight, which makes it an even more unbelievable injury.

gerald suffered dizzieness, lack of vision, headache and other symptoms after their fight and had a huge lump on his head which his sister (a nurse) begged him to get checked out before he fougth again.

he even collapsed in a sparring session similar to the benn fight except he pulled through. and all his next fights were so brief he never got re injured, as would the benn fight had it not been for the ref. once he started taking accumulated punishment.. well we all know what happened then.

there are rumours gerald failed his physicals after the jackson fight only to have don king bribe him into the ring regardless, that has never been confirmed though.
