  • Why do people say that Duran jumped two divisions to fight Leonard?

Leonard's record when a Duran left lightweight: 6-0

It's a great win to beat sugar ray leonard, it doesn't need to be embellished with lies. It's already a great feat

Not sure I am following you. Duran was a lightweight champ who fought one or two guys at 140 and a few guys at 147 before fighting Leonard.

I guess they want what Duran did to sound more impressive. Duran left the lightweights and had two fights as a welterweight before defeating Leonard to win the world welterweight title. As you say beating Leonard was impressive enough on it's own. So Duran didn't jump two divisions to fight Leonard because he had fought twice as a welterweight before he fought Leonard.

Because most don't know what they are talking about... Duran had easily established himself at welter before he fought Leonard..

People act like he did a manny-oscar or jmm-Floyd and just jumped from 135 to 147!title fight

he didn't go straight to Leonard from LW
it's simply his identity being a career LW going into that fight
not like it was embarrassing for Leonard to lose to him
Duran was a WW contender when they fought
see both guys gets dissed over this fight around here, makes no sense
