According to him I heard he would move down and fight below 175. He has to take care of the rematch first so it doesn't matter. He needs to be focusing on Taylor.

I agree, I would prefer Kessler to fight Taylor first.

But Dawson should not be fighting Tarver. And if he really wanted the Kessler fight, he shouldve been prepared to meet him half way. But he said hes not willing to.

Indeed! And I think Kessler is doing the right thing not moving to LHW. He saw what happened when a strong man like Pavlik moved up.

Kessler is easily big enough to fight at 175, it's only 7 pounds! I think he needs to think outside the box and go after Abrahams, Pavlik, Tarver, or another name that gets him some exposure in America.

He's a classy guy and deserves his shot in the big league.

He sounds nice but he definitely lied about Dawson not wanting to fight him. I spoke to an assistant of Garry Shaw( the promoter of Dawson) and he stated that Kessler's people didn't even look in Dawson's direction, and that his manager made excuses about how Dawson was too big.

              great logic

I guess its easy to judge how good a fighter is when you have seen them fight once

I guess people who have only tuned in to watch Taylor against Spinks and think he is a joke clubfighter would be right too

While I see your point, the reason five pounds does make a difference in boxing but maybe not so much in MMA is because MMA is still in it's infancy and there is more ground work and the fights are much shorter than boxing.

Boxing being a centuries old sport has defined itself and produces athletes of the highest caliber now and those few pounds at the very top level really do make a difference to a fighter.

It doesn't seem like much but moving up to another weight in which another champion is already quite big in can make a massive difference. Just check out Trinidad moving from JMW to MW to fight Hopkins. At JMW he was pretty big and strong but then he moved up one division to MW to fight a big, strong MW and the difference was tremendous and certainly a factor in his KO, apart from B-Hops' great skills of course.

It is a reasonable thing to ask for a catch-weight between two champions of a division, especially as they are so common nowadays. It makes it fair to both guys really and is a reasonable request when neither fighter is a hugely established champion (Dawson being a new champ and Kessler being an established champ in MSW but not well known in US).

He said Dawson wouldn't fight at a catchweight.

I dont understand that Dawson wouldn't do it either. To me that sounds like a good prospect for both of them since they wouldn't put their belts on the line.

is it too late to add Kessler to my fav. fighters list? Dude is a class act in and outta the ring .....Mikkel, one thing you gotta know about B-Hop is that he likes to play the PIMP or CAPO in the game....not the HOE or the HUSTLER.....in other words, you have to BEAT somebody that Hopkins lost to.....that bothers him, I KNOW that for a fact. If you can get Joe again and beat him....I'll bet my life that B-Hop would fight you! I can only speak for B-Hop......the rest of them might REALLY be scared to dance with you

                    Bless!

Kessler cannot afford to fight another bum....that would be 4 in a row since his loss to Calzaghe.
