There is no such thing as a boxing expert, only people who think they are. I have followed this game hard for 35 years and was a boxer for 10 years. Does that make me an expert? **** no. It makes me an ******* with an opinion.

There are no boxing experts, only *******s with opinions. That is why we have three judges, they are *******s with opinions also, but the law of averages hopes they will blend and get it right. That is all we can hope for.
    hha u got it right

i would say bert sugar is a historian expert... but when it comes to picking a winner for a future fight, theres no experts...

Easy with ego there.. It's a term. When you get paid to give your opinion that qualifies you as an "expert." Doesn't matter what it is. You are also considered an "expert" if you are called in as a specialist in your particular field for a court case.

It's hard to say I think. Calzaghe is not exactly a spring chicken either, but, still younger in boxing years than Jones due to his nasty KO's.

If this fight happens, and I think it will, I really do believe it will be fantastic. Their styles would work well against each other unlike Hopkins/Calzaghe or Hopkins/Anyone for that matter and it could turn out to be a real great fight.

I very much doubt Calzaghe could ever KO Jones at this stage. His hands are just too brittle and going up in weight would make it even harder. He had lost a lot of his power even by the Lacy fight and I still think Jones can take a decent punch despite what many others think. It's also very possible that Calzaghe could take a decision over Jones as Jones' big tendency to lie against the ropes could be very detrimental against the sheer volume and combinations of Calzaghe, but, in a way that could also play right into Jones' counter punching game and he could take it by maybe staggering Calz or even putting him down. He won't be knocking Calzaghe out.

Even though Jones is not what he used to be, I think he has a good style to match up against Calzaghe and he still has the speed and effective counter punching, especially his right, to give a bit of trouble to Calzaghe. Saying that though, I do believe Calzaghe would look ten times better against Jones than he did against Hopkins. He was always going to look a bit scrappy and sloppy against Hopkins and even, at times, somewhat ineffective. Jones however does not fight at all like Hopkins and at this stage of his career does not have the defense of Hopkins.

One thing that could hurt Jones could be his want to actually fight Calzaghe and go out with a ****. He tried it against Trinidad at times and probably could have put him away but Trinidad is no Calzaghe. Calzaghe has a great chin, is obviously much bigger and has a great defense. Jones could actually fall into a pretty bad trap by fighting as he did against Trinidad. Calzaghe doesn't walk in straight and he uses angles much more effectively than does Tito. If Jones played the rope 'a' dope game it could benefit Calzaghe greatly with Calzaghe simply overwhelming Jones coming in and out and firing off constant combinations while Jones could struggle to really find some good openings to counter from and of course his inability to throw combinations could play against him also as it did Hopkins.

Funnily enough though, I actually think Jones has a better chance than anyone I can think of at the moment of beating Calzaghe. Calzaghe is looking pretty **** compared to four/five years ago even though he is still able to beat the majority of guys out there. All the talk of Pavlik is a terrible mismatch I think. Calzaghe would still beat Pavlik at this stage pretty damn easily...or if not easy, then a reasonably comfortable UD.

I for one would die to see this fight eventuate and really hope it does. I still think Calzaghe is a great fighter and somewhat underrated while at the same time being overrated by some. Anyway, great fight without a real easy pick 'em outcome.

It's bothering me that great stuff like this goes unnoticed

The problem with writing stuff as good as this is that no one will dare to enter a discussion with you.
