The Philippines is actually one of the most gay-friendly countries in the world, and the low divorce rate is a cultural thing, not simply because the men threaten the women.

I was only using the Philippines as a minor example in previous posts but you came along and started focusing on culture exclusively. Yup, I support the practice of wife beating from the Old World. How low divorce rate suddenly equates support for wife beating is a great leap on your part.

Dying country? The Philippines was the second fastest growing country in Asia last year after China. Sure, problems there abound, that's why I'm here in Canada now. But let's not get too hung up on the Philippines in this thread and go back to topic (more like off-topic).

BTW basketball is huge in the Philippines, and we are known infamously (and incorrectly) for being consumers of dog and cat. Is there anything else you don't know about the world outside Canada? Filipino-Canadian couples in Canada are free to separate however they please without the fear of reprisals.

We finished second in Asia during last year's FIBA Asian Championship - finishing ahead of China, South Korea, Taiwan - and qualified for this year's FIBA World Cup (unfortunately Canada did not make it). Our football team is also ranked highest in Southeast Asia.

The cat and dog trade is mostly illegal in the Philippines aside from one province where it's been historically consumed for cultural reasons. 99.99% of Filipinos have never tasted dog, unlike in Vietnam and South Korea where dog consumption is apparently not uncommon.
