  • I ahve said it many times, Bernard Hopkins ruins fighters, and their careers.

Segundo Mercado was one of the best MW's of the mid 90's. He fights Hopkins once, and escapes with a life and death draw in his home town during a civil war, he rematches Hopkins gets totally destroyed, becomes damaged goods and levitates in the fringes before he retires. Antwan Echols comes around. The monster punching middleweight KO's his way up the division and gets a shot at Hopkins where he loses a one sided UD and takes a lot of punishment. He works his way back up the division, faces Hopkins a second time, and receives a savage beating at the hands of Hopkins, becomes damaged goods and begins losing to much less fighters. Kieth Holmes was a two time WBC MW champ. He suffered a one sided beating from Hopkins and was forced to pursue a career raping to make up for the heart sore. Then comes Robert Allen. If one fight with Hopkins wasn't bad enough how about 3? He has been done ever since.

Tito then comes around the one time undefeated monster puncher gets mentally ****d during the build up, and recieves by far the worst beating of his career and is KO'd for the first time. After this loss he was never the same, forced to retire, and comes back to lose to Winky Wright and Roy Jones. Yet another fighter ruined by the EX man. Howard Eastman then comes by loses to Hopkins, losed his head, and then ends up getting knocked out by the likes of Miranda. Then comes in Taylor. He receives two gift decisions that Hopkins deserved, but no matter because he would go on to get KO'ed by Pavlik and Froch now looking like another shot fighter.

Following Taylor comes Tarver. He suffers a humiliating loss at the hands of a 40 year old ex middleweight and then looks to no longer be the same fighter. Winky Wright follows. He suffers a wide decision loss only to come back and lose to a man who was only a few months ago was a welterweight. Then comes Calzaghe who is awarded a contreversal split decision only to go on to beat RJJ, but get knocked down and hurt badly. He then retired probably sensing that a loss would be around the corner. Following Calzaghe comes Kelly Pavlik a middleweight marvel that many thought would go on to be the net great American fighter. Most pundits believed he would not only beat Hopkins, but be the first to knock him out. However the agless Hopkins turned back the clock and gave Pavlik the most humiliating beating of his life. This beating then leads to him not only becoming less of a fighter, but it leads him to turn to alcohol. There is now speculation of him entering alcohol rehab.

With this diverse list of fighters either outright ruined physically, and mentally or just not the same after fighting Hopkins only one can assume the fate in store for either Carl Froch or Thomasz Adamek. Will Carl Froch get a sex change? Will Adamek become a heroine addict? Only time will tell, but what everyone should believe is that Bernard Hopkins truly does ruin fighters and careers.

    Mercado.
    Echols
    Lipsey
    Allen
    Holmes.
    Trinidad
    Eastman
    Taylor
    Tarver
    Wright
Calzaghe (though he escaped through retiremant)

No paragraphs needed. The whole paragraph touches on one subject.

Hopkins-Taylor , both fights, ruined the career of Ambient and other sleep inducing drugs.

And both guys are to blame.

Sorry, those fights depress the **** out of me.

Both guys wanting to do something but neither doing it.

And then we had to watch it twice.

I thought for sure, after the first fight late rounds Hop would put it on him, but alas he didn't.
