Well to be fair to Chavez. They didn't really ranked p4p in the 80's. It really wasn't a bid deal back then. Plus he also fought in the era of Leonard, Hearns, Duran, Hagler, Whitaker, prime Tyson. So it was a hell of a great era. in 1989 The Ring started ranking P4P and it had Tyson at #1 and Chavez was #2. From 1990-1992 Chavez was #1 P4P and in 1993 Chavez was #2. By 1994 Chavez was out the list. However, it is really hard to say where he ranked at a certain time P4P in the 80's. But, he was top 10 in the 80's. And, in the 80's he won 3 lineal championships and in 3 different weightclass and compiled a record of 68-0. So by Horus logic Chavez was the best fighter of the decade in the 80's cuz he remained undefeated and was a top level fighter.

From Start to Now Mayweather has been at the TOP!
But we can not say that about Manny Pacquiao.
What we can say Pac has accomplished more this decade than what Floyd has. Again Floyd has not won 3 lineal championships in 3 weightclass and has not won 6 championships in 6 weightclasses. And, you acting like Pac did squat early on in the decade. When Pac became known to hardcore fans in 2001. With a KO victory over Ledwaba to win a title. From the beggining of the decade Pac moved up 3 division and knocked out a champion who was bigger and he still doing that now. I am sorry bro hands down Pac is the decade of the year followed by Mayweather while Hopkins is close behind in the #3 spot.

      • QUALITY fights count.

PBF never fought Kostya whoe beat Judah or Mitchell.

PBF never fought Mosley who beat ODLH.

PBF never fought Pacman who beat JMM.

those he fought are beat OUTs.

        In that time....

the thing is PBF got all these lb4lb status not fighting the best in his division

the thing is there is no one greater than him in any division except for the

rising of a Manny Pacquuiao they have NO CHOICE but to pick him.

The only great fight he has is Diego Corrales a full credit gave him.

And a good battle against with sparring partner of pacquiao, Castillo.

But the Castillo fight I and II is far worst than JMM vs Pac II. lol

Look at Pacquiao RESUME. He keeps on fighting the best in the division.

That tells me he is the most improved fighter of the decade...
            which he is..
LOL give it a rest bro, Pacquiao is on top of not only Boxing, but the sports world. People REMEMBER the fights Pacquiao has because of how he fights. You can bring up rankings, titles, the amount of time Floyd's done it in, etc, but it doesn't take away from Pacquiao coming into his own as Boxing's best fighter today. Floyd missed out on opportunities to beat a Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley, but Pacquiao coming up from 130lbs as early as last year to demolish the #1-2 WW in the world in the fashion he did it in is simply amazing. Floyd took 2 yrs to even get to that point while he was doing it (and against less risky competition).

I understand you'll ride or die for anything Floyd does or has done, but you gotta realize at some point, eventually there will be another fighter to take his thrown...and without them even fighting yet Pacquiao has trumped Floyd as of now.

Pac is not the most improved fighter of the decade, he's THE fighter of the decade. Ironically, only you and the rest of the Floyd minions think otherwise (for obvious reasons). Give the man his due.

            • It just shows what a nuthugger you are when you have Floyd as the Number 1 P4P in 2008 when he didn't even fight and retired. Manny was pound 4 pound number 1 in 2008 after beating Marquez, Diaz and De La Hoya, the only person Mayweather beat in 2008 was The Big Show, don't tell me you must be taking that into consideration right? Are you also taking in account all Mayweather's yacht investments as wins?

People are suddenly forgeting that Mayweather has ran through 5 divisions, win 6 world titles, 3 lineal titles, and been ranked at the top of the sport for 10 Consecutive years with 3 1/2 of the years being ranked #1 . And did staying undefeated

People are forgeting that Mayweather and Pacquiao have fought 3 of the same opponents in both of their last 5 fights.

People are forgeting that Mayweather last 5 fights:
                    Won 154 LB Championship
                    Won 147 LB Championship
                    Won the Lineal 147 Championship
Defended his 147 LB Championship against the #5 P4P fighter in the world.
Completely Shut out the #2 fighter in the WORLD!!!

                    All while remaining undefeated!!!!

People are forgeting that Pacquiao has been Outboxed and given a draw, Outboxed and beating beat, and Outboxed and winning by 1 point. in this decade

People are forgeting that He used to be a 1 handed fighter.
                    in this decade.

Funny how People are forgeting these things

The facts about titles and P4P listings (oxy moron there) don't dictate anything though man. I can run you a list of fighters who had just as many title reigns, division jumpings as Leonard, Hearns, Mayweather, etc...but are you going to call them better than those guys off GP? Of course not...it's all about THE FIGHTS. I've told you this before. People remember the fights more than how many titles a guy had. In this case, Pacquiao's won 7 world titles, something nobody's done before so of course there's gotta be some type of mention about it.

But when we talk about THE FIGHTS, you can't deny Pacquiao's been the bigger risk taker and all around the more exciting fighter. We can debate for days about the technicalities between the two being they have yet to fight, but you can't just post facts about an opinionated list and say Pac is not better than Floyd because Floyd has been on the list longer. Both were at different paths of their careers and while Floyd balked for a while Pacquiao took over and is taking bigger risks than Floyd is (or has) considering there is a fight between both Pac and Floyd on the horizon.

To put it in better understanding to how people look at both guys, Floyd comes out of a short retirement and fights JMM. Pacquiao beats the #1 140lb fighter and instead of taking an easier fight to prep for a possible fight with Floyd, he fights the #1-2 WW in the world and simply destroyed him. Sometimes, facts just don't mean ****. That's why certain fights must happen, as in...FLOYD VS PACQUIAO.
