Tyson was a beast selling PPV's.

Tyson, DLH, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Holyfield...the 5 PPV beasts of the last 20 years.

My prediction for the next 5 PPV stars[after Mayweather and Pac retire or during the tail end of their careers]: Alvarez, Donaire, Broner, well I can't think of two more but wishful thinking has me saying Ward and Gamboa. I would say Bradley, but something about his style, I think it will put fans off and he'll be like Holyfield of the first 5 guys, in which he's going to NEED a big PPV star in order to sell decent numbers, but he can't really fight a Clottey, or Bruno, or Ortiz and sell 1Mill+ by himself.

Pacquiao has sure done well for a little guy from the Philippines- over a million with Marquez, Mosley, Cotto, Margaritio, and De La Hoya. Solid numbers with Hatton and Clottey---and all this doesn't take into account PPV outside of the USA. Here in Canada Pacquiao has a large following and lots of people buy the PPVs, but they don't get listed here. For Pacquiao to consistently outdraw US fighters in their own country, despite a lack of trash talk and fairly dull 24/7s, you've really got to give the guy credit.

The international PPV buys aren't reported at all by boxing. The UFC does it but for some reason boxing hasn't picked up on this yet. UFC use it as a way of inflating their numbers to create the illusion they're getting bigger buys than boxing. Nearly half of their buys come from Canada, if boxing reported its Canadian buys their PPV numbers would almost double. The UFC's international PPVs aren't actually anything to shout about. If Hopkins-Dawson did around 50k from the US it likely would have gotten closer to 300k when the rest of the world are added in. A piece of **** match like Hopkins can top the UFC's average PPV buys for 2011.

Tyson-Lewis is well known to have done 800k buys in just the UK - so between two countries they managed 3 million buys. Likewise Pac-Hatton and Hatton-Mayweather both managed over 1 million buys in the UK bringing their total buys closer to 2 million. David Haye was getting more than a million buys by fighting guys like Audley, Ruiz, and Valuev.

Becuse that's what the topic starter meant it to be. A Mayweather crazy knows no shame, and devises all sorts of tricks to get his loved one's name up on the board. Consider that when Tyson was making those huge numbers PPV was in it's comparative infancy, so Tyson and then DelaHoya are really the top PV draws of all time to date.
