  • Starting boxing

Hi there I am 16 years old 17 in 2 weeks and thinking of starting boxing I did kickboxing for 3 years and gave it up in march and since then I have been hitting the weights. Now that I have added size and strength I want to do boxing to get my fitness up and to have some fights also hit the bags. I currently 6 ft and weight 190 pounds what would be your advice for me to start.

Find a trainer who works in a boxing gym, and teaches boxing only!'

Forget what you learned in the past it will be counter perductive in the boxing ring.
Without an experienced trainer who will start off learning everything wrong, and will have a tuff time recovering when you find the right trainer

    Find the right man! Ray

Bolded is especially true. DO NOT go to some "Boxing/Karate/ufc/Brazilian wax ju gitsu" gym if you want to learn how to box.

Yea, if you want to compete in BOXING...find a pure boxing coach. A boxing coach who trains MMA fighters on HOW TO BOX may be cool. But not a "slash" coach.

Also, you'll have to figure out what weight class you'd want to fight. My guess would be light heavyweight..
