  • Comments Thread For: Espinoza Will Discuss Garcia-Thurman Winner With Mayweather

NEW YORK Stephen Espinoza doesn't expect Floyd Mayweather Jr. to box again. That gut feeling won't stop Showtime Sports' executive vice president and general manager from discussing fighting the winner of the Danny Garcia-Keith Thurman welterweight championship match March 4 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Floyd is hell bent on that $100 million dollar purse for his comeback. He knows he can't get that fighting the winner of Garcia vs Thurman. That's the only reason he wants to fight Conor.

Best part is Conor thinking that if he's gonna get his ass schooled he deserves a huge amount for the demonstration. lol

and of course, Conor knows Dana wears his wallet for him for ''just in case'' it gets lost....

I really just have no desire to see Floyd fight again. Its really just time to let these new guys shine. If he comes back and beats the Thurman-Garcia winner, then what? He leaves again and basically ruins another potential top guy. Even if the guy he beats manages to climb back to the top of the division. The impression will always be that he's only on top because Floyd left. That's gonna be the case anyway. But at least that's the case with speculation. If Floyd comes out and outboxes the guy easily, we'll know for sure.

Floyd has already stated nothing interests him except the McGregor fight. He said straight up thats not really boxing but entertainment. His true fighting days are over. He just wants one more huge event. He wants to go out on top. Looking sensational knocking out a guy that has never fought professionally and who is light years behind crude brawlers in terms of skill and experience. Floyd wants to break Marciano's record with a huge 100 mil PPV blockbuster against a guy thats boxing record is 0-0. Almost seems like it should not count on the professional record but should be considered an exhibition.

Showtime needs to move forward. There are many PBC fighters who can't even get fights. Most of them fought once last year. Why not focus on them?

Another way to look at it is, Conor is the draw at the moment. Floyd is retired. And his last two fights have sucked. McGregor is the hottest thing in combat sports. He deserves great money for this. Especially since he knows Floyd only wants to fight him and nobody else.
