  • Comments Thread For: K. Porter: Mayweather Avoids Young Black Foes in Prime

Two weeks ago at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Last Vegas, Shawn Porter handed Adrien Broner the second loss of his professional career. Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs) had hoped to catapult himself into a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) on September 12th at the MGM Grand.

Porter's hopes were dashed when Mayweather rejected his advance and advised him to face Errol Spence on the pay-per-view undercard. Porter has no interested in fighting on the undercard, he wants Floyd in the main event.

Porter not a big payday dancing partner.. Doubt that fight even breaks 1 mil PPVs.. Floyd needs a real big name and one that has somewhat of a chance of winning after his hugfest pot shot clinch and play it safe performance..

ppl dont like the ppv excuse but it is true..he's the only fighter that has to pick a solid guyt that can do at least 800k ppvs and it's nice to have a latin country or some other country so they can pay big bucks to show the ppv in order to put you over that 1 million edge in a different way...

i understand do wat u have to do to make relevance for your fighter or the fight, but now he sounds like he doesnt know his sport...shane and oscar both told floyd no in either primes lol..only fight floyd could get was winky at 154 moving up from 140...this is documented lol...but anyways berto in his prime had floyd at the victor ortiz fight but berto lost so the other guy got the fight..paul williams lost his title as soon as he won it now..lets hold other fighter accountable this man has fought the best and winners time and time again..

how about we call out the fans for ducking them as well...puttin no asses in the seats for them but only showing up when headlines disfavor floyd?? the truth!
latin fighters get higher ratings and better crowds, but once u see they cant beat floyd u want to call on the black guy who isnt your fave..and u actully know that he cant beat floyd either

Why these young prime foes wanna take on a near 40 year old man? Goes both ways.

How is being a "prime African American" fighter any different than being a prime fighter of any other background? Exactly what skillset does an African American fighter possess exclusively?

Floyd is thinking of ppv numbers, what's gonna bring in $$.

He already has the black demographic, makes sense to partner up with Mexicans and others.
