WBA bantamweight super champion Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno returned today to Pedro Alcazar Gym in Curundu, Panama, for the first time after his last title defense against Lorenzo Parra on June 17.

Bantamweight Eric Morel must fight on August 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada, but his coach and father, Cyril, said if an opportunity arises to challenge Panama's Anselmo Moreno for the WBA bantamweight champion, they will gladly accept it while not ruling out potential fights with Mexico's Jorge 'Travieso' Arce, the WBO super bantamweight king, and Nonito Donaire, who shines with the the WBC and WBO titles at bantamweight.

Two-time world champion Eric Morel reappear on August 13 in California on a Showtime televised card, which is going to be headlined by bantamweights Abner Mares (21-0, 13 KOs) and Joseph Agbeko (28-2 and 22KOs), with the IBF title at stake.

Bantamweight Eric Morel is prepared to move up in weight for a fight with Mexico's Jorge 'Travieso' Arce, the WBO super bantamweight champion. Arce won the title last Saturday in Las Vegas with a knockout over Wilfredo 'Papito' Vazquez in the tweflth round.

Jonathan Oquendo, Jayson Velez and Eric Morel are the fighters who make up the trilogy of Puerto Ricans who might be facing Mexico's Jorge 'Travieso' Arce in his first defense of the WBO super bantamweight title. Last Saturday in Las Vegas, Arce stopped Puerto Rico's Wilfredo Vazquez in the twelfth round to capture the belt.

Bantamweight Eric Morel, who is in Puerto Rico with his family for the Easter holidays, still found time to hit the gym in order to squeeze in some training time to stay in shape for a possible title fight in the near future. Golden Boy Promotions had contacted the boxer on Wednesday to face Abner Mares on Saturday night in Los Angeles, but Morel turned the offer down because he wouldn't be ready for such a fight with so little notice. Golden Boy wanted Morel to replace the injured Joseph Agbeko.

Former champion Eric Morel (44-2, 22KOs) began training on Monday for a possible title shot in June or July against Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno (30-1, 10KOs), the current 118-pound champion of the WBA, according to Morel's father and coach, Cyril.

At the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, bantamweight contender Eric Morel (44-2, 22 KOs) stopped Luis Maldonado (37-5-1, 28 KOs) in the fourth round. Morel outgunned Maldonado, a late replacement for the injured Martin Castillo. Maldonado went down in round one. Morel is trying to get a fight with WBC/WBO champion Nonito Donaire. The Puerto Rican boxer is possibly going to return in the month of June.

Even though Martin Castillo will not be the opponent, former two division champ Eric Morel is ready for anything. Castillo suffered an ankle injury in training was replaced was replaced by Luis Maldonado for this Friday's bout. Morel sees no problems in getting the win and then he wants a piece of WBC/WBO champ Nonito Donaire.

LOS ANGELES - Due to a foot injury suffered in training yesterday, former World Champion Martin "El Gallo" Castillo has been forced to pull out of his April 1 rematch with Eric Morel. Mexican contender Luis Maldonado will step up to the plate to face "Little Hands of Steel" this Friday night in the main event of TeleFutura's "Sólo Boxeo Tecate" at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.
