Following the loss of a parent, you could forgive anyone for taking an extended period of time before returning to work. However, Dyah Davis (23-4-1, 11 KOs) not only finds comfort in boxing, he also believes his father, the late, great Howard Davis Jr would have wanted him to continue.

Donovan ‘Don Da Bomb’ George reached to BoxingScene.com to offer clarification on the circumstances surrounding his suspension. The super middleweight contender was informed by the Illinois Boxing Commission that he “tested positive for a banned substance.” The positive result came during the post-fight drug testing from his 12-round points win over Dyah Davis on August 23 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois. George (25-2-2-1NC, 22KOS) fought through much of the night with a broken hand, re-aggravating an injury he suffered 10 days prior to the fight. The Chicagoland puncher was given an anti-inflammatory prescription for pain relief, but failed to disclose beforehand to the Illinois Boxing Commission.
As reported yesterday by BoxingScene’s Jake Donovan, super middleweight fighter Donovan George tested positive for a banned substance, causing his August decision win over Dyah Davis to be overturned into a no contest. George has been suspended. According to his promoter, Hitz Boxing, George had injured his hand prior to the fight and had taken an anti-inflammatory but had forgotten to disclose that to the commission.
Donovan George’s biggest year of his pro boxing career has hit a snag that could potentially alter his immediate future. Donovan George loves to fight. Whether on a club show or a big fight card, George has demonstrated his passion through the sport by taking on all comers and giving it his all. His style and mindset reflect brawler, fighter, and warrior. It is a style that gets fight fans eager to watch him again on television or in person. While the joys of fighting have given George many victories, especially by knockout, and some defeats, he is not about to change what he does in the ring.
