Amanda Serrano won’t be the only legendary figure in the house for her long-sought homecoming headliner.

Middleweight Amari Jones electrified his hometown crowd Saturday night, stopping veteran journeyman Daniel Echeverria in the third round at the Oakland Marriott on Broadway.

Julio Barraza maintained his unbeaten record, but didn't seem to impress the judges in having to settle for a strangely scored 10-round majority draw with Edson Ramirez. Barraza (13-0-1, 9KOs) won 96-94 on one card, but was overruled by absurd scores of 94-94 and 96-96.

Daniel Echeverria bounced back strong from the lone loss of his career, though he wound up trading knockdowns en route to stopping Abner Lopez in eight rounds Saturday evening in Tlalnepantla, México. Lopez actually enjoyed the greater momentum heading into the battle of Mexican welterweights, having won four straight including an upset win over previously unbeaten Aik Shakhnazaryan earlier this year. Yet it was the Tijuana-based welterweight who hit the deck first, with Echeverria catching him off guard in the opening round.

The televised opener came in the Women’s Bantamweight division. 27-year old Yazmin Rivas (34-8, 10 KO) of Torreon, Coahuila de Zaragoza, Mexico, successfully defended her WBC title for the fourth time with a unanimous decision in ten rounds over 34-year old Kandy Sandoval (9-7, 2 KO) of Mexico City, Mexico. Official scores were 97-93 and 96-94 twice, all for Rivas.
