Former world champion Carlos Cuadras (36-2-1, 27 KOs) of Mexico is ready to put on a showcase performance when he steps in the ring with Puerto Rican contender McWilliams Arroyo (16-3, 14 KOs).

Cuadras has made it clear that winning is the only option in the February 24th showdown, as he enters the ring with a new motivation and the hunger to be world champion again.

Their showdown, which will be televised by HBO, takes place at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.

The contest will be part of "Superfly 2" - with Cuadras looking to recover from a setback where he lost a close points decision to countryman Juan Francisco "Gallo" Estrada in September.

"I made it 50-50 this year, there were good things, but in 2018 I have to improve, I have to try harder because I want to be champion again, I'm hungry to be a champion and that's what I'm going to do," Cuadras said.

He explained that he's already works in Jiquipilco, State of Mexico, in search of getting physically well.

On December 26 he will travel to Los Angeles, where he will do all the preparation under the orders of veteran trainer Abel Sanchez.

"I think I lacked a good strategy in the last few fights, I feel that now being with Gennady Golovkin in training camp and with someone like Abel will give me a great motivation. He is a very professional person and that will make me take another leap in my career," Cuadras commented.

"The last fight started well, but there were details at the end, like when I lowered my hands or when I changed my guard. I think there are things that did not help me at the time of the fight and you have to correct them, you have to have a good guide in the corner, I can do anything in the ring, but as long as I have a good guide."

Cuadras is hoping to get a title fight against the winner of the rematch between Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Juan Francisco Estrada, which headlines the February card.

"I have to win this fight at all costs and God willing we will go for the title; (WBC president) Mauricio (Sulaiman) said that if I wins this fight there will be a rematch with either of them. I hope that Estrada wins, because he was the one who beat me and I want to get rid of that thorn," Cuadras said.
