Middleweight world title challenger Dominic Wade (18-0, 12KOs) is relishing his underdog tag ahead of Saturday night’s fight against Gennady Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).
Speaking on a pre-fight media call, the unbeaten challenger revealed: “I’m the underdog so no one is expecting what I got, or what I can do. So I think everybody’s kind of underestimating what I can do and how I perform. Saturday night I can show it.”
Standing in the way of Wade’s world title ambition is the avoided Triple G, who has a fearsome KO streak dating back 21 fights to August 2008.
The 26 year old is a huge 16/1 outshot with BoxNation’s betting partner Coral to cause a spectacular upset.
“Nobody really gave me the chance, so everybody’s kind of looking past trying to see the Triple G and Canelo fight, but you know you never know what happens in this fight. Maybe, I’ll be the one to shut it all down,” stated Wade, who fights for his first professional Titles on Saturday.
Last time out Wade edged a split decision against Sam Soliman back in June to move him up the IBF rankings and following an injury to Tureano Johnson, paved the way for the American to step in and fight Golovkin for the IBF/WBA/IBO titles.
“I think as long as you’ve been prepared for the next level I think every fight is helping you climb the ladder and get you prepared for that next moment.”
Team Golovkin have put talks of potential huge unification fights on the back burner until their mandated defence against Wade.
“Nobody thinks I can win. There aren't that many people out there, aware of just what I can do inside the ring, ” the challenger tersely stressed. "The given fact that most people underestimate me, extra motivates me towards victory this Saturday. I just don’t care what people are talking about Golovkin´s future, I will be spoiling those plans, and I will be the one who fights Canelo!"
