Martin Murray (29-1-1, 12KOs), who holds the WBC silver crown, is a week away from the toughest challenge of his career, when he steps in the ring with the man many regard as the top middleweight in the world, WBA/IBO/WBC-interim champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs).
The HBO televised fight will take place at Salle des Étoiles in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Both boxers are familiar with fighting in the Monte Carlo. This will be Murray's third consecutive fight in the area, and Golovkin has averaged at least one fight a year in the region since 2013.
"We've been working on Golovkin for quite a while. Nobody has shown any chinks in his armor yet. As tactical as he is, like I said we've been working on this for a while. My style....we believe styles make fights and we've got the style to beat him. I didn't tell you how I'm going to beat him. That's just me beating around the bush. Obviously I'm not going to tell you how I'm going to beat him, our game plan, but we believe that we can go in there and we think that we can do the job," Murray told The Guardian.
