Martin Murray (25-1-1, 11KOs) has denied several reports that were circulating in the UK, which suggested the boxer had reached an agreement to face WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (28-0, 25KOs) on February 1 in Monte Carlo.
Murray did confirm that a fight with Golovkin may come in the near future, because the British contender is also going to see action on the same card in Monte Carlo - which may suggest that fight is being built with both fighters being showcased on the show. Murray will first stay sharp with a keep-busy fight on November 23rd on the Froch-Groves undercard in Manchester.
"Just to let people know that I'm not fighting Golovkin on Feb 1st but we're fighting on the same bill. Looking forward to it when it happens," Murray stated
Golovkin has been unable to face Murray in the United States, due to Murray's inability to obtain a visa. Murray had been scheduled to face Garth Wood on December 11th, but the fight was canceled a few days ago.
