The Mexican support is building strong for Marco Antonio Rubion, as many personalities in the boxing community within Mexico are pledging their support - hoping the WBC interim-champion scores a knockout victory over WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
WBC featherweight world champion, and teammate Jhonny Gonzalez: "We know it's a very brave fight for Marco and he has the punch to knock anyone out. We will be supporting him."
Mexican superstar Mariana Juarez: "He's a great friend. To get this important victory he has to keep throwing punches until he sees [Golovkin] on canvas."
Legendary Julio Cesar Chavez: "He has to go all out from the start, with punches to the head, because otherwise he will lose. As a Mexican, I am supporting him."
Legendary Ricardo "Finito" Lopez: "He must hit him a lot to the body to get the knockout. I can see that the fight ending differently [than many expect] and hopefully Rubio wins it."
Trainer Nacho Beristain: "He has to put his entire heart into this fight. He must be very smart and hit him with the force of a bull. If he wants to beat this opponent he can't have any fear."
