Martin Murray (29-1-1, 12KOs) is loving his underdog role as he enters a ten week training camp to prepare for his the most dangerous fight of his career, when he faces WBA/IBO/WBC interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) on February 21st in Monte Carlo.
Murray has won four in a row since a controversial twelve round decision loss to Sergio Martinez in April 2013.
Most experts are tabbing Golovkin to dispatch of Murray in a few rounds, but those predictions are only fueling his motivation as he enters the contest.
“I ignore all the talk about Golovkin being invincible and the more they big him up and write me off the better. It is a win-win for me when people think Golovkin is going around like Mike Tyson in his prime, smashing people up. Everyone is expecting GGG to do me in a couple of rounds but that motivates me. The harder the fight I am in, the better I perform," Murray told The Guardian.
