WBA/IBO/WBC interim-middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" is Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) is currently training in the high altitude of Big Bear, California for his February 21st showdown against Martin Murray of the United Kingdom. The fight takes place in Monte Carlo and will be televised by HBO.
Andy Lee captured the vacant WBO middleweight title a few weeks ago with a knockout victory over the then unbeaten Matt Korobov. Triple G said he was impressed with Lee's performance and hopes that a unification fight happens in the near future.
"It was a great performance. He had a good knockout and now he is WBO champion. I want a unification fight. I have wanted one for a long time in the middleweight division so we can see who is number one," said Golovkin.
With that being said, Golovkin states that he is taking the fight against Murray very seriously and knows a slip up could derail many future lucrative fights.
"Murray is a good fighter. He's very strong and will be a tough fight but we will be ready," Golovkin told BoxingScene.com.
