The WBA's middleweight champion Felix Sturm (35-2, 15KOs) has already laid down a calculated strategy to defeat his next challenger, Matthew Macklin (28-2, 19KOs). Sturm defends his title against Macklin on June 25 at the Lanxess-Arena in Cologne, Germany, Sturm reviewed vidoes of Macklin's past performances. He noticed the British boxer is very uncomfortable when opponents target his body and he needs periods during rounds to catch his breath.
Macklin's last taste of defeat came in 2006 with a knockout loss to Jamie Moore, at junior middleweight. He then moved up to middleweight and won eleven bouts in a row.
"I don't underestimate my opponents. Macklin is the European champion, but he has problems when he starts to move. Then he needs to take a break, but I won't allow him to have one. He is especially sensitive to the body, so I know exactly where I'm going to hit him," Sturm said.
