Andre Dirrell will return to the ring April 12 in a 10-round super middleweight fight against Ossie Duran. The Dirrell-Diran fight will be broadcast as the main event of an ESPN2 “Friday Night Fights” broadcast. Vinny Scolpino, Duran’s adviser, said the site of the fight has not been determined. The 29-year-old Dirrell (21-1, 14 KOs), of Flint, Mich., most recently fought Feb. 2, when he out-pointed Ghana’s Michael Ggenga (14-7, 14 KOs) by unanimous decision in a 10-rounder. The 35-year-old Duran (28-10-2, 11 KOs), also a native of Ghana, most recently out-pointed journeyman Joshua Snyder (9-8-1, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision in a six-rounder Oct. 13 in Newark, N.J.

Middleweight got some healthy shaking up in the back end of 2012. It got some more of it in the last week. Felix Sturm, the king of the close call in recent years, isn’t getting them all of a sudden. The first Randy Griffin fight, Matthew Macklin, and Martin Murray all saw him leave as a he entered: the WBA titlist. Now, he’s dropped two straight and one wonders what options remain for the popular German draw. Last year, he dropped a close but clear decision to Daniel Geale in a unification bout. Now, fighting to get a mandatory rematch via the IBF, he’s dropped an ace to the unexpected Sam Soliman. This scribe hasn’t seen the contest yet, and understands it may have been a debatable call, but for now the result remains.

In a fight that has flown under the radar, super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell (20-1, 14 KO’s) will put a 13-month streak of inactivity to rest when he faces off with Ghana’s Michael Gbenga (14-6, 14 KO’s) inside of the Convention Center in McAllen, Texas later this evening. And while it’s a positive sign to see such a fine talent as Dirrell getting busy again, there were some developments within his recent training camp in Las Vegas that are worth noting. Outspoken trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. is no longer training Dirrell, as he will instead stay put in Vegas as his charge, undefeated lightweight hopeful Mickey Bey Jr., faces off with Robert Rodriguez inside of the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino tonight.

According to Mlive, Super middleweight Andre Dirrell may return to action in the month of March against Rowland Bryant. Dirrell returns tomorrow night in McAllen, Texas after 13 months of inactivity. He faces Milton Nunez (25-6-1, 23 KOs) in a fight that may get some minor coverage on the UniMas network if time permits. Dirrell (20-1, 14 KO's) wants to stay busy and get in as many fights as possible in 2013. Dirrell says his next return, depending on Saturday's night result, will take place on March 1 or March 16.

By Jake Donovan - Top Rank presents its first Solo Boxeo card since the series as we once knew it went off the air in Dec. '08, headlined by then-unbeaten Mike Alvarado. Saturday's main event pits unbeaten Jose Felix Jr. (22-0-1, 18KO) against veteran spoiler Gerardo Robles (16-10, 7KO). The bout airs live on UniMas (formerly Telefutura), live from the Convention Center in McAllen, Texas.

McAllen, Texas - Young, dynamic, rising star Jose Felix of Los Mochis, Mexico will take on a big puncher in Geraldo Robles of Durango, Mexico on a Top Rank boxing card at the McAllen Convention Center on Saturday, February 2. Felix, just 20 years old, is 22-0-1 and is ranked IBF #11. He will take on lightweight Robles who has a record of 18-10 with 9 KOs. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds and it will be Top Rank's debut on the new UniMas Network (formerly Telefutura).

With no fights under his belt in the 2012 calendar year, super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell (20-1, 14 KO’s) is chomping at the bit to get his career back on track. While Dirrell may be growing slightly weary of his latest spell of inactivity, his fortitude hasn’t appeared to waver, as evidenced by a brisk training session on Monday afternoon inside of Barry’s Boxing in Las Vegas. After going some lively rounds with middleweight prospect Cerresso Fort (14-0-1, 10 KO’s) and prospect Craig Duncan, Dirrell finished up his day by hitting the medicine ball with Rodney Crisler and getting down to business on the mitts with his trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr.

BoxingScene.com previously reported that the return of super middleweight contender Andre "The Matrix" Dirrell (20-1) would take place on January 19th. We have been advised that his opponent will be Rowland Bryant (16-2). The fight will be only the second fight in nearly the past three years for Dirrell who suffered neurological injuries in his March, 2010 disqualification victory over Arthur Abraham. Dirrell's career has also been delayed due to managerial and promotional issues. He is now promoted by rapper 50 Cent's SMS Promotions.

Andre Dirrell, who has been on the mend for almost a year, plans to return on Jan. 19, he tells BoxingScene.com. "We set up a date for Jan. 19," said Dirrell, 29. "It was originally Dec. 15 but it got pushed back for some unknown reason. I'm dealing with it, it's giving me more time to perfect my craft. I'm sure it will be televised, but I'm not sure where yet."
