Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum rejected some of the industry rumors, that Manny Pacquiao's upcoming fight with Chris Algieri is a prelude to a 2015 showdown between the Filipino superstar and WBC/WBA 140-pound champion Danny Garcia.

Pacquiao faces Algieri (20-0, 8KOs) on November 22nd from the Venetian in Macau, China. The fight takes place at a catch-weight of 144-pounds. Pacquiao's Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach would like to see his boxer drop down to 140-pounds next year. Roach has discussed, in several interviews, his preference to see a fight between Pacquiao and Garcia (29-0, 17KOs).

But Arum views next month's fight as being a tough proposition, because he doesn't believe Garcia has much of a chance to defeat Algieri, who holds the WBO title at 140.

"I don't think that Danny Garcia, if he fought Algieri today, would have much of a chance. Algieri is a real great athlete. [A prelude to Garcia] wasn't why we made a fight between [Algieri] and Pacquiao.  We were going to make Pacquuao and Provodnikov, and once Algieri licked him - we figured that Algieri had enough of a back story to make this fight [with Pacquiao] very interesting," Arum told BoxingScene.com.
