Ring City USA, the new sports media startup that debuted its Thursday night boxing series in November 2020 on NBC Sports Network, will take over Puerto Rico in less than one month to kick off their 2021 schedule. The March 4 event will take place at Felix Pagan Pintor Gym in Guaynabo, while the March 18 event will be held at the Albergue Olimpico (Olympic Center) in Salinas. Ring City will close out its three-event residency in Puerto Rico on March 25 at a location to be announced at a later date.
On March 4, Serhii Bohachuk (18-0, 18 KOs) will faceoff against former middleweight title challenger Brandon Adams (22-3, 13 KOs) in a 10-round super welterweight main event. The fight was originally scheduled to headline a Dec. 3 Ring City event at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles but Bohachuk contracted COVID-19 and had to withdraw from the fight. Adams ended up knocking out Sanny Duversonne instead.
Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (34-3-1, 29 KOs), the former light heavyweight champion, will return against former world title challenger Sullivan Barrera (22-3, 14 KOs) in a 12-round cruiserweight battle. Alberto “El Explosivo” Machado would like to face Francisco “El Bandido” Vargas in a battle of former world champions - and the fight could very well become a reality. Alberto Machado returned to the scene of the crime to exorcise past demons. The former 130-pound titlist put behind the worst stretch of his career to end 2019 on a positive note, scoring a 2nd round knockout of Ecaudor’s Luis Porozo in his lightweight debut Friday evening at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.
Vergil Ortiz Jr. (14-0, 14 KOs) will look to end the 2019 year with another spectacular knockout win when he defends his WBA Gold Welterweight Title against Brad “King” Solomon (28-1, 9 KOs) in a 12-round fight. The event will take place Friday, Dec. 13 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. and will be streamed live as part of fight season on DAZN.
