BoxingScene.com has received a copy of a statement issued by the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) that calls for the banishment of Andre Dirrell's trainer Leon Lawson.

The World Boxing Council has also announced that it has indefinitely suspended Lawson from participating in any WBC sanctioned fight in any form or manner and that they want to meet with him to try to help him with this grave situation.

The statements from the ABC and WBC stem from the post fight incident that occurred immediately after Dirrell's 8th round disqualification victory over Jose Uzcategui on Saturday night in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Uzcategui dropped Dirrell face first with a three punch combination. The last punch landed just after the bell sounded to end the round. He had previously been warned by referee for punching after the bell.

Dirrell captured the IBF interim super middleweight title with the victory and while Dirrell was being attended to by the ringside physician, Lawson suckered punched an unsuspecting Uzcategui with two bare fisted punches.

Uzcategui'a team immediately filed criminal charges after the incident that almost caused a riot. Lawson slipped out of the arena during the chaos and is still wanted by local authorities.

Here is the ABC statement:

"The Association of Boxing Commissions feels it necessary to encourage all member Commissions NOT to license Mr. Leo Lawson as cornerman, based on his pinch to Jose Uzcatequi. Commissions have many regulations in place directed at the safety of the participants. Even though it appears Lawson was reacting to a lte strike in the match, NO cornerman or trainer should be out of control as to take a punch at anyone, and certainly not at the opposing fight," said Michael Mazzuli, President of the ABC.

"As the President of the ABC, it seems that the action by Mr. Lawson was not only unprofessional but probably also criminal. The sport of boxing does not condone or excuse Mr. Lawson's criminal act and it is my personal hope that the state of Maryland will take direct action against Mr. Lawson. All Commissions should refuse him license as a second/trainer anywhere in the United States. Instances like this one gives the sweet science a black eye."
