A June 6 show scheduled to take place in Pretoria, South Africa was canceled at the 11th hour, according to a recent news release.

Cruiserweight contender Thabiso Mchunu was scheduled to appear on the card in a12-round regional title fight versus Brazil's Julio Cesar Dos Santos. Mchunu's promoter, Main Events revealed the bad news of the show being scrapped, though no reason was offered as to its cancellation, or whether the show or any of its bouts will be rescheduled.

"The entire boxing event scheduled for Friday, June 6, at Rembrandt Hall at the University of Pretoria in Pretoria, South Africa where South African native Thabiso "The Rock" Mchunu (16-1, 11 KOs) was scheduled to face Brazilian Julio "Gaspar" Cesar Dos Santos (26-2, 23 KOs) has been cancelled," read the press statement distributed Thursday afternoon. 

Also to have appeared on the show was former 130 lb. titlist Malcolm Klassen (27-6-2, 14KO), who planned to return to the ring for his first fight in more than a year. The 33-year old was scheduled to face countryman Jasper Seroka in a regional title fight.

Klassen, who served two tours as a 130 lb. titlist, dropped a 12-round decision to Will Tomlinson last May. The former champ hasn't won since Dec. '12, the last of a three-fight win streak which included a second win over countryman and fellow former 130 lb. titlsit Cassius Bayoli. 

Mchunu (16-1, 11KO) enjoyed a breakthrough moment in his career with an upset win over former heavyweight contender Eddie Chambers last August as part of Main Events' NBC Sports Network Fight Night series. The squat cruiserweight has fought just once since then, a points win over Olanrewaju Durodola this past January in Atlantic City, which also aired on NBC Sports.
