According to Alex Morrison, the manager of former WBO featherweight titlist Scott Harrison, John Murray has agreed terms for a showdown with the Scottish boxer.  If Harrison also agrees to the deal, they will meet on the Ricky Burns versus Kevin Mitchell undercard in a bout that will net the winner a crack at the victor of the Burns-Mitchell WBO lightweight title fight.

"Everything is in place and all that Scott needs to do now is sign the contract,” said Alex Morrison when speaking to The Independent.  “He won’t get a better – or a quicker – chance to become a world champion again.  I knew how fit he was but Scott showed, when he stopped Gyorgy Mizsei in his comeback in June, that he still has the ability to read a fight.  Personally, I think he has too much in his locker for Murray but it’s up to hyim [sic] to prove that."

Harrison has had a well-documented battle with the booze.  At one point many felt that the troubled 34-year-old would never fight again.  However, a fourth-round TKO win over the overmatched Mizsei in June, his first fight in over six-years, was a tentative first step on what could be the road to a world title should the former WBO title holder net a win over Murray.

Murray, though, is a former British and European champion, has been active in recent times and, despite stoppage losses to Kevin Mitchell and Brandon Rios in 2011 for the WBO inter-Continental and WBA world titles respectively, the 27-year-old is still an unrelenting force in the 135lb division.  Indeed, the 31-2 (18) Mancunian has a gentleman's agreement in place for a return with Mitchell should the Londoner beat Burns, but has opted to give himself further options by meeting Harrison, 26-2-2 (15), on the September 22 SECC card.
