According to multiple sources, WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (28-1, 18KOs) will return to the ring on June 30th at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Former champion Cristian Mijares had been the front runner to face Donaire but IBF super bantamweight champion Jeffrey Mathebula (26-3-2, 14KOs) now appears to be the opponent of choice for the "Filipino Flash".

Initally Donaire was slated to return on the now scrapped Juan Manuel Marquez July 14th pay-per-view card. Most recently it looked like he would return at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA on either June 30th or July 7th but with three other major fight cards happening in the Los Angeles area over a five week period Top Rank decided to move the fight to Las Vegas.

Former lightweight champion Brandon Rios (30-0-1, 22KOs) will appear in the co-feature slot, as a junior welterweight, against an opponent to be determined, although there have been mentions of Mauricio Herrera.
