Frankie Gavin has handed Curtis Woodhouse a stinging put down ahead of their fight on Saturday night.

They meet at the Liverpool Echo Arena, with the WBO Intercontinental welterweight title on the line.

And with mutual dislike between the two threatening to boil over, the peace was hardly kept by Gavin at the weekend.

"Woodhouse played for Birmingham City but I hardly ever saw him because I only watched the first team," blasted Britain's only-ever amateur world champion.

"He didn't make it as a footballer and he won't make it as a boxer.

"He has threatened to knock me out. That is a total lack of respect and he will be made to pay.

"His footwork is so bad he will be tripping over his own feet."

But Woodhouse hit back by saying: "Frankie's getting knocked out, simple as that. He's a good talent but he's never fought anyone decent."
