Retired former world champion Laila Ali was not surprised with Holly Holm's shocking two round destruction of heavily favored UFC champion Ronda Rousey on Saturday night in Australia.

Laila, the daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, rejects the notion that Holm-Rousey resembled a boxing match - as many have claimed.

Holm used accurate punching, defense, movement and closed the show with a vicious high kick that knocked Rousey out cold.

Before she became a full-time MMA competitor in 2013 (with a record of 33-2-3, 9KOs), Holm was a former multi-division world champion in boxing and regarded as one of the best female fighters in the sport.

"She didn't shock me. I'm familiar with Holly Holm. She is a talented boxer. Has an MMA background and obviously was no chump. I'm excited for her and hopefully she gets the exposure she needs to take her career to the next level," Ali told TMZ Sports.

"It's obvious who the better fighter was. It wasn't a boxing match, definitely not. Holly Holm did not fight like she used to fight in the ring. You can't go into an MMA fight and fight the same way you did in a boxing match.

Ali has never exactly been a big fan of Rousey or her attitude towards others. The UFC is now discussing the idea of doing an immediate rematch between Rousey and Holm, but Ali predicts the second fight will have the same outcome with potentially a more brutal ending.

"I don't even want to talk about [Rousey] because there are so many things that I could say, but I think at this point we need to understand that in order to be the best in the world you definitely don't ever get beat up like that in your prime, period," Ali said.

"I don't think she should have a rematch with Holly Holm, because I think it will go the same way the second time, probably worse."
