New York City - IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31KOs) is feeling a boost of confidence after going face to face and staring into the eyes of Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs).

Later tonight, Lemieux will attempt to snatch away Golovkin's WBA/IBO middleweight titles at Madison Square Garden. More than 20,000 fans will pack the house to watch the fighters trade deadly punches in the main event of an HBO Pay-Per-View card.

"I saw what I needed to see [in his eyes]......caution," Lemieux said. "He's a well rounded up guy. Like I said, it's going to be a lion against another lion in there. He's very confident in his abilities, I don't doubt it - but he's also aware of what I bring to the table. It's going to be a serious fight."

Lemieux is a sizable underdog in the fight. There is some debate on whether or not Lemieux has improved enough since suffering back to back defeats to Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine.

Lemieux has racked up nine wins since that period in his career in 2011.

He promises to put in a stunning performance that will have the entire boxing world talking.

They share two common opponents, Rubio and Gabe Rosado. According to Lemieux, Golovkin beat a very faded version of Rubio, and the Canadian puncher believes he took less punishment than Golovkin did against Rosado.

Even with that belief, Lemieux is not paying any attention to their performances against Rubio and Rosado.

"He beat [Rosado] in a certain way and I did it in another way. I think I did it much more easily than he did. But styles make fights and every fight is different, so I don't consider it to be of any importance on what I'm going to bring to the table," Lemieux said.
