Lucas Matthysse (37-4, 34KOs) has returned back home to Argentina after his knockout loss to the Ukrainian Viktor Postol on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Matthysse lost out in his second attempt to capture the WBC junior welterweight championship.

During the tenth round, Matthysse caught a punch to his left eye and went down. He stayed down on a knee as the referee counted him out.

After the fight was over, Matthysse told media members that he was temporarily blinded and thought his eye had suffered serious damage. His vision returned a moment after being counted out.

He took plenty of shots from critics, who felt he was fading at the time of the knockout and many called him "a quitter" for staying down for the full count. Some critics are even questioning the injury to his eye. Matthysse blamed an eye injury for his decision loss to Danny Garcia in 2013.

Matthysse had some choice words for those critics.

"We did things well, we had good preparation on Saturday but we did not come out ahead. I have my career ahead of me. I lost the chance to win the world title. Now we have to relax and wait for what fights will be offered to me," Matthysse said.

"I could not see after the punch to the eye. I would have kept going if I had recovered my sight. It was not my night, you are not always going to win. Now everyone is opening their mouths and talking. They aren't fighters. Those who are criticizing me, let them try putting on the gloves and get to where I am."

"He found me with that shot to the eye and he won. That punch in the tenth round, he caught me in the eye and that was the key. I thought that something had happened to the eye and that was that my concern, but fortunately right now everything looks good. I thought something worse had happened to me. I thank all of Argentina that was expected me to arrive with the belt, but I failed. I want to send greetings to Junin and Trelew."
