According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, middleweight prospect Shane Mosley Jr., the son of former three-division world champion Shane Mosley, has failed his post-fight drug test in the aftermath of his BKB (Big Knockout Boxing) debut on June 27th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The NSAC reports that Mosley, who blew away Jason Kelly in 51 seconds, tested positive for amphetamines.

Mosley Jr. was set for action as part of this Saturday's Sergey Kovalev-Nadjib Mohammedi undercard, also at the Mandalay Bay - and that fight is obviously off due to his positive test. He will also miss his upcoming fight on next month's undercard to Mosley Sr.'s rematch with Ricardo Mayorga.

Mosley Jr. is now suspended until his exact punishment is determined by the NSAC either in August or September.

Mosley Sr. had his own issues with banned substances - when his name became connected to the infamous BALCO scandal. Moselt testified before a grand jury and admitted to taking EPO in preparation for the 2003 rematch with Oscar De La Hoya. Mosley won a controversial twelve round decision.

During his long career, Mosley Sr. has never failed a drug test and he was never punished for the De La Hoya incident as the grand jury testimony did not take place until 2007.
