Nicholas Walters will put his WBA (super) featherweight title on the line when he faces unbeaten Colombian Miguel Marriaga at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

The Jamaican is protecting an undefeated record of his own and has stopped 21 of his 25 professional opponents to date but in Marriaga, he takes on another fighter blessed with genuine power in both hands.

Walters snatched the belt from Alberto Garza via a fourth-round stoppage in November 2013 and has since made two defences - blasting out Vic Darchinyan in five and then stunning Nonito Donaire with a six-round battering in October last year.

One man who may be watching the clash with keen interest is the new IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby, who relieved Evgeny Gradovich of his crown courtesy of a slick eighth-round stoppage.

With Walters, Vasyl Lomachenko and Gary Russell Jr all holding featherweight titles, Selby finds himself at the top of one of the toughest divisions in boxing.

The Welshman recently hinted he is hoping to make two defences of his title before targeting unification fights.

Analysing the other title-holders, Selby said on Sky Sports News HQ: "Lomachenko is probably the best amateur of my era with 300-odd fights with only one defeat. You've got Nicholas Walters who punches extremely hard with both hands, so that's a risky fight - then you've got Gary Russell Jr, who probably has the fastest hands in boxing at the moment."

Lomachenko and Russell Jr met a year ago with the Ukrainian edging a majority decision and more super-fights involving Walters and Selby are expected next year.
