Robert Guerrero will end a year-plus layoff when he fights Yoshihiro Kamegai Saturday in the main event of "Showtime Championship Boxing" from the StubHub Center.

Guerrero's last bout was a wide-points loss to Mayweather, but a fight with Keith Thurman was discussed later in the year. However, former Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said at the time that Guerrero didn't want to tussle with Thurman, and the calls of "duck" followed closely behind.

"The Ghost" said that's not the case, and that he had a good reason for turning down a Thurman (23-0, 21KOs) bout.

"Everyone knows I'll fight anyone. I jumped from 135 to 147 to fight the best and that's what I will continue to do," Guerrero told BoxingScene.com. "The fight was turned down by my team because the offer was disrespectful at best but that's in the past and I'll I can say is you'll see me in there with Thurman or anyone else real soon. I can't wait!"
