Darlington bantamweight Stuart Hall has vowed to make the most of his "million to one" chance to claim a version of the world title when he faces South African Vusi Malinga in Leeds on Saturday night.

The 33-year-old Hall was handed his surprise shot at the IBF crown after former opponent Jamie McDonnell was stripped of his title for failing to agree to a defence against mandatory challenger Malinga.

Hall was beaten by McDonnell in 2011 and lost again to Lee Haskins the following year - but has bounced back with three straight wins to earn his unexpected shot at the FirstDirect Arena.

Hall told BoxNation: "It is mad how it happened and if someone had said in October this chance would come the bookies would have given you a million to one.

"My dream was to win the world title and I achieved that in 12 fights. If I win the world title it is going to be an unbelievable feeling."

Opponent Malinga holds an unspectacular record of 21 wins from 26 fights but perhaps most tellingly he is a nephew of the super-tough Sugarboy Malinga, who came to London to divest Robin Reid of the WBC super-middleweight title in 1997.

Meanwhile Birmingham's Frankie Gavin will now face Brazilian Juliano Ramos in a non-title fight after his original opponent, Joseph Lamptey, was denied a visa to enter the country.

Gavin had been due to defend his Commonwealth welterweight title but now faces an unpredictable test against Ramos, who has won 21 of his 27 bouts, with 18 coming by way of stoppage inside the first three rounds.
