Timothy Bradley’s split decision victory over Juan Manuel Marquez Saturday night didn’t come without its share of controversy as Marquez and his trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain were very vocal on their disagreement with the final verdict of the fight.

Both Marquez and Beristain took turns on the podium during the post fight press conference calling the outcome a robbery as they felt they once again got a bad decision in Nevada.

BoxingScene caught up with Beristain who was not pleased and felt they won the fight comfortably and by a wide margin.

“I think we won by a minimum of 3 to 4 points because really we made him look ridiculous. Nobody has made him miss in his entire career like Juan did. We imposed ourselves tactically and he made him miss all night. [Juan] made him run around the ring. And I think doing that and not throwing punches, you can never win a fight like that” Beristain would tell BoxingScene.

The loss ruined plans for Marquez to add a fifth title in a fifth weight class which would’ve only added more achievements to his already illustrious career. Marquez has tried to correct his losses in the past in seeking a rematch with Manny Pacquiao after three controversial and close defeats. This time however, Nacho Beristain feels there is no need for a rematch.

“There's no point. He's a fighter that doesn't sell. They've gifted him the two fights that he's had with the two best fighters which are Pacquiao and Juan and outside of them, who is he going to fight? What is he going to sell and what is he going to win?” fired the veteran trainer.

At 40 years old Marquez will have to carefully weigh his options to see what direction he’d like to take next. A rematch with Bradley appears to be out of the question but things could definitely change once things settle down.

For now, Marquez and his team feel confident they won the fight and say the only people who didn’t see Marquez winning where the two judges and Team Bradley.

“What I do know is the whole world saw Marquez win except them” said Beristain.
