Danny Garcia and Zab Judah appeared to be en route to making weight for their Feb. 9 bout at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., according to figures provided by World Boxing Council official William Boodhoo.

Garcia came in at 150 pounds on Jan. 17, a figure certified by Dr. George Bonner, according to the WBC. Judah, meanwhile, was at 151 pounds on Jan. 16, a figure certified by Paul McHugh.

While both of those numbers are easily within the 10 percent range required by the WBC, those figures were also taken much later than the usual 30-day mark mandated by the sanctioning body. Garcia’s weight was provided 22 days before he is to step on the scale at the pre-fight weigh-in; Judah’s weight was provided 23 days before.

Nevertheless, neither has much weight to lose before their next mandated check-in, which is supposed to come 7 days before the final weigh-in. They will need to be within 5 percent of the junior welterweight limit — 147 pounds — which means that Garcia and Judah only had three and four pounds to go, respectively.

This disclaimer is necessary: Not all boxers in WBC title fights have been providing their weights at these intervals, and the sanctioning body has not enforced compliance with its rules.

Garcia, who holds both the WBC and World Boxing Association belts at junior welterweight — unification that has continued since July despite a WBC rule against it — is 25-0 with 16 knockouts. The 24-year-old from Philadelphia is coming off a 2012 in which he outpointed Erik Morales to pick up the WBC title, stopped Amir Khan to add the WBA belt, and then knocked out Morales in a rematch.

Judah, 35, is now 42-7 with 29 knockouts and 2 no contests. The Brooklynite is a former three-time titleholder at 140 and former lineal champion at 147. His last time holding a belt, however, was when he entered the ring in July 2011 to face Amir Khan, who knocked Judah out on a fifth-round body shot. Judah returned last March with a ninth-round stoppage of Vernon Paris.
