Despite the fact that IBF light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero will defend his title against Luis Alberto Rios in Panama on March 16, promoter Sammy Gello-ani is not concerned about a possible hometown decision favoring the Panamanian fighter.

Gello-ani told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard “its not the camp of Rios that’s promoting so we are in safe hands  and while it’s a major decision on who the judges are  Sampson (Lewkowicz) will come in and everything will be stabilized.”

Lewkowicz is the well-known and influential international promoter and matchmaker who is a partner of Gello-ani.

Gello-ani said that while Casimero is training well he plans to step up his sparring by asking world flyweight contender Froilan “The Sniper” Saludar to go to Cebu along with some other tough fighters including a southpaw.

Gello-ani said he wants Casimero to train well and to retain his title.

He said bantamweight Mark John Apolinario will face Roberto Vasquez in a rematch for the WBA interim title following their majority draw last November 3 in a fight where many felt the decision should have gone to  the 23 year old Apolinario who has a record of 17-2-2 with 4 knockouts.

The 29 year old southpaw Vasquez who has a record of 32-5-1 with 22 knockouts has said this time around he will not leave the decision in the hands of the judges and will look to win by knockout.

Gello-ani told us Apolinario is training at the “In This Corner “gym of Rommel Nazario in Sucat, Paranaque under trainer  Jun Agrabio and “like before he’ll have a good sparring session in Manila” even as he believes Vasquez  who lost by a 10th round TKO to Drian Francisco in a clash for the vacant WBA International super flyweight title  on October 3, 2009 “is not such a tough opponent. He is beatable.”

He said “I’m not afraid and possibly we can bring two titles back home.”
