KO artist Marcos Maidana is yet again after the steps of Amir Khan, who beat the Argentine boxer in the best fight of the year in 2010. So far, Maidana has not been successful in getting the rematch.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Khan said he would return in April and is interested in names such a Victor Ortiz, Senchenko and Josesito Lopez. However, Khan made no mention of Maidana.

“We fought the best fight of 2010 and everybody in the boxing business knows I’ve deserved that rematch for over two years. He needs an opponent for April and I say I’m in for it,” Maidana said.

Referring to possible weight issues that could prevent the long awaited rematch Maidana explained:

“Well, Khan said he’d like to face Senchenko or Ortiz who are welterweights after all. And Khan himself has said he was moving up to 147 lbs not long ago. But we could always arrange a catch-weight, that’s not an issue.”

Maidana will travel to Oxnard, California in the next few days to join his trainer Robert Garcia in start training camp.

“After a very busy 2012 in which I fought three times, I’ve rested and I’m ready to start what I wish to be a great year for me. I’ve lost only one fight (against Devon Alexander) in two years but some people seem to write me off. I want to prove them wrong this year,” El Chino said.
