Amir Khan has vowed to box clever as he aims to put his career back on track against Carlos Molina this month.

The Bolton fighter is facing a tough road back as he looks to regain the IBF and WBA light-welterweight titles he has lost over the past 12 months in losses to Lamont Petersen and Danny Garcia.

The 25-year-old has been criticised for his defensive work and poor decision-making, something he has vowed to put right against Molina in Los Angeles on December 15.

"I'll be wiser in this fight," Khan told the Daily Telegraph. "You'll see a different and much better Amir Khan."

Since the Garcia defeat, Khan has switched coaches, splitting with Los Angeles-based Freddie Roach and turning to Virgil Hunter in San Francisco.

Having suggested in the past he did not get enough training time with Roach, Khan feels he is benefiting from the move.

Khan said: "LA had too many distractions for me. In San Francisco, the gym is quiet and it is better for me. It's a lot different. There were so many distractions in LA.

"Virgil has been with me the whole time in San Fran. I need to be told, to be instructed. I prefer a quiet gym. It makes me focus more, work harder."

Hunter has backed his new charge to bounce back from the Garcia defeat.

"We are talking about an exceptional fighter, who makes mistakes sometimes," he said. "We've worked on that. I'm pleased with his progression.

"He understands how he could have beaten Garcia. His confidence is where it is supposed to be."
