IBF super featherweight champion Juan Carlos Salgado (26-1-1, 16KOs) was trying to get a knockout victory last Saturday night in Puebla against Jonathan Barros. Salgado won a twelve round unanimous decision with scores of 115-112, 116-111 and 116-111. He was happy to fight someone with so much experience. Barros' only defeats came at the hands of Yuriorkis Gamboa and Celestino Caballero.

"I wanted to beat him by knockout, but he was a very difficult opponent. He just felt my punch and backed down. However, it was a great experience for me to face an opponent with so much experience and all of that will help me with reaching a high level for my next fight. We'll go back to the gym to corrent any mistakes," Salgado said.

The next fight is possibly going to come against Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16KOs) in the fall.

"It's a dream fight for me," said Salgado. "We know that Yuriorkis is a fighter who is very fast, moves very well, and has that Olympic schooling. So we'll have to work very well [to combat] these aspects."
