Dominican welterweight Ed “The Lion” Paredes (30-3-1, 20KOs) is ill and had to be taken to the Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood Florida. This morning his current trainer German Caicedo, informed us about the situation and we immediately contacted the father of the fighter, Mr. Vidal Paredes.

“At present we are waiting to see what the doctors will say to us. They will tell to us when he will be able to get out of the hospital. Nevertheless, we believe that on Wednesday or Thursday he should return home,” said Paredes Sr.

Then, we spoke briefly with the boxer who said - “I didn't feel well and came to see the specialists. They decided to admit me for observation for two days. Now I feel good and believe that very soon I will return to the gym to continue my career,” the fighter assured.

The boxer told us that he withdrew from a scheduled fight with former champion Vivian Harris (29-7-2, 19KOs), which was set for May 18th at The Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood. He plans to return on a July show being planned by his promoter, Acquinity Sports.

Paredes-Harris was the main event of the evening, and now Argenis Méndez vs Héctor Velásquez has been bumped to the top position of the show.
