WBA/IBF junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is frustrated with his inability to secure opponents at 140-pounds. Khan is prepared to defend his titles, for what may be the last time at 140, against mandatory challenger Lamont Peterson on December 10th in the challenger's hometown of Washington. Because of his opponent struggles, Khan is making a sooner than expected move to the welterweight division.

“There’s no one out there who wants to fight me,” said Khan to The Bolton News. “I put the fight to Erik Morales and he turned it down, I put the fight to Bradley and he turned it down for a second time. The deals we were offering would’ve been the biggest pay days of their careers, so I’m going to move up to 147-pounds because I’m frustrated I can’t get any fights at this weight.”

Khan is expecting a very tough challenge from Peterson, who battled to a draw with former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz, and only suffered a single career defeat - to Khan's rival WBO champion Timothy Bradley.

“It will be explosive. He drew with Victor Ortiz and the only guy to beat him is Timothy Bradley, so it will be tough test but I’ve got the skills to beat him,” Khan said.
