Rumors continue to circulate in the German and Russian press that a deal is close for heavyweight champions David Haye and Wladimir Klitschko to unify their titles in late April or early May. Both Klitschko and Haye are running out of time to reach an agreement.

Klitschko, holder of the IBO/WBO/IBF titles, has several days to reach an agreement or honor his pre-existing contract to face unbeaten British boxer Dereck Chisora. Haye is also obligated to make a mandatory defense of his WBA championship against Ruslan Chagaev.

There were rumors that Klitschko was trying to get Tomasz Adamek, but the Polish boxer has announced his intention to fight in Poland on April 16. Chisora and his team are waiting in the wings. Klitschko can face another opponent, if he finds that opponent prior to the January 11 deadline. Klitschko was scheduled to face Chisora on December 11. He withdrew with an abdominal injury. The injury gave him 30-days to find a new foe or reschedule the bout with Chisora.
