At the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (46-2-2, 25KOs) got revenge with a crushing second round knockout of Paul Williams (39-2, 27KOs). Williams came out very fast and pressed the fight. Martinez pressed right back and they traded a lot of punches in the first round. In the second, Martinez landed a crushing left that caught Williams right on the button and sent him down face-first and out cold for the full count.

In their first meeting, both fighters hit the floor in the first round, but it was Williams who won a close twelve round majority decision.
