Alamos, Sonora -  Triple world champion Fernando Montiel suffered a fall on a motorcycle while attending a motorcycle event as a special guest this past weekend. There were no serious injuries from the fall.

Montiel was not the the driver of the motorcycle. While riding on the back of the motorcyle, the driver lost control after hitting some loose gravel on the track. Montiel suffered several scrapes on his body and the most serious cut was on his right leg up to the shin, but fortunately doctors confirmed that there was no fracture after the fighter initially thought he factured his tibia.

Montiel first received medical care in the town of Alamos and his companions immediately took him to Los Mochis, Sinaloa, and in two hours was attended by a doctor Marco Antonio Leyva, who conducted a detailed review on Montiel and after conducting several X-rays, it was confirmed that he had no fracture.

Fernando Montiel will take 20 days rest to recover from the bruises and then resume workouts in the gym owned by his family in Mochis.

"Thank God I'm fine. It was a tremendous shock. I should never ride the bike, but it was an accident without consequences. This gives me a lesson to not expose myself to unnecessary risks. I thank my family, friends and fans who have been asking about my health through the social networks. In 3 weeks we'll be in the gym," said Montiel.
