WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is going to sit back and enjoy a summer vacation until the negotiations are finished between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. Cotto's legal counsel Gaby Peñagarícano told reporter Reymund Colon that Top Rank [who also promote Pacquiao] have yet to make a decision on Miguel's next opponent and probably won't until the Mayweather-Pacquiao talks are done.

Cotto could become an opponent for Pacquiao if a Mayweather fight doesn't happen, although everyone involved believes that Antonio Margarito is at the head of the line for a Pacquiao opportunity. It's the belief of Cotto's side that a Margarito rematch will be offered if Mayweather-Pacquiao happens. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is another option if he can still make 154-pounds.

"I understand that from a promotional point of view, the promoter prefers to wait and see what's going to occur with [Mayweather-Pacquiao] before he begins to work on the plans of Miguel Cotto. That could be the case, but there are other options", said Peñagarícano.
